Lochner's Sedalia Regional Airport Project Wins 2015 ACPA Award

Lochner’s Runway 18-36 reconstruction project at Sedalia Regional Airport, located in Sedalia, MO, has been awarded a 2015 American Concrete Pavement (ACPA) Excellence in Concrete Pavement Award for the Reliever & General Aviation Airport category.

Lochner provided design engineering and construction observation services and Ideker, Inc. served as the contractor. The scope of work included the reconstruction of the southern 5,000 feet of Runway 18-36, two sections of connecting taxiway, a new drainage system, and the installation (and reuse) of medium intensity runway lighting.

The runway reconstruction, combined with adjustments to the pavement profile and the runway safety and object-free areas, enable faster approach speeds and allow the airport to increase its runway approach category from BII to CII. A potentially important economic benefit for the region, as the CII approach category allows the airport to service corporate jet traffic.

The construction of this project took place within 150 calendar days, on time and budget; total project cost was $3.45 million.

The ACPA Excellence in Concrete Pavement awards have honored quality concrete pavements constructed in the United States and Canada. The National awards recognize the contractors, engineers, and owners whose efforts yield the best pavements in airports, highways, and street and road applications, as determined by an independent panel of judges.

Winners will be recognized during the Annual Excellence in Concrete Paving Awards Dinner Program on December 4th in Bonita Springs, Florida.
