Lochner Selected to Provide Construction Engineering and Inspection Services for I-70 and US-24 in Kansas
We are pleased to announce that Lochner has been selected by the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to provide Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services for improvement projects on I-70 and US-24. These projects are a part of Kansas’s Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program (IKE) that is shaping the future of transportation and supporting economic growth throughout the state with the modernization and safety improvements of roads and bridges.
The I-70 Bridge Repair, Grading, and Surfacing project is in Geary County, KS and includes a bridge deck patching on I-70 over Franks Creek and a 4.7-mile pavement reconstruction near the junction of I-70 and US-77 in Junction City, KS. Lochner will work closely with KDOT and the contractor to develop an approach to the work that ensures quality and safety while minimizing traffic. This project provides much needed reconstruction to aging infrastructure that in some areas is over 40 years old.
The US-24 Pavement and Bridge Replacement spans Shawnee and Jefferson Counties and includes over 5 miles of pavement reconstruction, bridgework, and intersection safety improvements on US-24 in Topeka, KS. The scope includes safety improvements to reduce conflict points, new medians to provide streamline access while maintaining traffic flow, and frontage road enhancements to spur economic development in the area.
Under these contracts, Lochner will provide construction management and inspection teams to oversee and ensure quality during construction on these multi-year, multi-phase projects. The I-70 and US-24 projects are critical infrastructure projects that will improve the safety and condition of the roadways with a positive impact on the local economies. Construction is already under way for both projects and is anticipated to complete in 2025 (I-70) and 2027 (US-24).
