The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is reconstructing the Route 6/10 interchange in Providence through design‐build. As owner’s representative, Lochner is providing construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services.
The full interchange reconstruction of Route 6/10 provides a missing ramp movement (Route 10 northbound to Route 6 westbound) and will construct eight new bridges using both conventional and accelerated bridge construction techniques. Lochner is overseeing all aspects of the project including bridge demolition; the construction of retaining walls and pile‐supported foundations; improvements to drainage, lighting, traffic signals, signing, landscaping, and streetscaping features; the implementation of an intelligent transportation system (ITS); the relocation of utilities; and the maintenance and protection of traffic.
