Lexington Office Provides Dinner for Ronald McDonald House Families
As part of Lochner’s Giving Back Initiative, employees throughout the firm participate in an annual group service project that benefits the local communities in which they live, work and play. This week, we are featuring the volunteer efforts of our Lexington, Kentucky, office at the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Bluegrass. Through the nonprofit’s Taste of Home program, the Lexington office sponsored a meal from local restaurant Moe’s Southwest Grill. Then, nine employees spent three hours at the RMHC setting up and serving food to 20 families (approximately 40 people) currently staying there. While there, the director of RMHC, Reuben Watson, gave Lochner employees a tour of the house, including a typical guest room where families stay and the supply room where items are kept on hand for guests. Afterwards, Lochner employees mingled with the families, listened to their stories, and helped clean up.
In addition to their volunteer efforts, the Lexington office raised $375 for the RMHC through their annual chili cook-off, donations, and matching funds from the Lochner Cares charity.
The RMHC provides housing to families of children undergoing medical treatment at nearby hospitals. Their mission is to support “the health and well-being of children and to strengthen families by keeping them together in times of medical need.” The RMHC of the Bluegrass was established in 1984 and has 21 rooms with 7,665 nights of available lodging. It is solely operated with funds raised through donations and could not operate without fundraising or volunteers.
