As part of a longstanding relationship with the City of Ardmore, Lochner is developing its fourth consecutive master on-call services for the city at the Ardmore Municipal Airport. Located 12 miles northeast of Ardmore, Oklahoma, the Ardmore Municipal Airport is a general aviation airport with two runways – Runway 13-31 and Runway 17-35. Lochner has been hired to provide planning and design services through a five-year master on-call contract.
The airport is beginning a project to rehabilitate the primary runway through joint sealing and spall repairs combined with an electrical project to upgrade the edge lighting and cable. The runway’s lighting system has outlived its useful life, and several sections of the circuit have failed repeatedly. By upgrading the primary runway lighting to LED fixtures, maintenance on the Runway 13-31 edge lighting system will be minimized. Additionally, the project includes installation of a new concrete encased duct bank under the apron pavement that will provide the airport with spare ducts to allow for future expansion of the airfield electrical system. Combining these two maintenance and upgrade projects into a single one allowed for the use of both FAA and State funding mechanisms and will allow for only a single shutdown of the airport’s primary runway.
Due to existing safety issues as well as to support the growth and development of the airport, Lochner is designing a partial parallel Taxiway to serve Runway 13-31 as part of the FAA’s capital improvement program. Additionally, existing runway rehabilitation, taxiway LED lighting installation, taxiway pavement rehabilitation and reconfiguration, and drainage improvements are part of the five-year capital plan. Lochner is also continuing with assisting with wildlife deterrent, site design and hangar layout.
